Ferrochrome is utilized in the production of stainless steel. It is also used when it is desired to add chromium to carbon steel.
• It is used to increase corrosion and oxidation resistance.
• Stainless steel contains 18-20% chrome on average.
• Ferritic & duplex grades contain more Cr than austenitic
